Uploading floor plans
Floor plans are the drawings Waygo turns into your map: one file per level. You upload them on the map's page, Waygo does the rest, and the page shows every file's status until it is a built level.
What to upload

The better the drawing, the faster and more accurate the build:
- Vector beats raster. A CAD export (DWG, DXF), a vector PDF or an SVG lets Waygo read walls, booths and rooms exactly. A photo or scan of a plan works, but takes longer.
- One level per file. If one PDF holds every floor, split it first.
- Keep the labels. Booth numbers and room names on the drawing become the names visitors search for.
- Same scale and orientation across levels, so stairs, lifts and escalators line up between floors.
Upload from the map page
Open the upload popup
On the map's page, click Upload floor plan in the Floor plans section. On a draft map the active checklist step, Upload your floor plans, opens the same popup.
Drop your files
Drop them onto the popup or click to choose. Each file gets its own row.
Pick the level for each file
Choose the level the drawing shows. For a floor the map does not have yet, choose New level… and type its name, for example “Mezzanine” or “Rooftop terrace”. The map gains that level once Waygo has built the plan.
Add a note for Waygo (optional)
Anything that helps: “The east hall is a temporary structure”, “Booth numbers changed since last year”, “Use the layer named BOOTHS”.
Upload
Click Upload N floor plans. The files appear in the Floor plans table as Uploaded, and your Waygo team is notified.
After the upload
Every row in the Floor plans table shows the file, its level, its status and when it was uploaded. Click a row to see the file, its status and its note, and to download the original.

Updating a floor plan later
Layouts change. Upload the new drawing on the same level: it appears as an update awaiting build beside the current plan, and the map keeps showing the current plan until Waygo has built the new one. Your content placements, links and kiosks stay where they are.
Levels are structure. You cannot add, remove or reorder levels yourself, because the built size of a map matches what was agreed with Waygo. Upload a plan as New level… and your Waygo team adds the level when they build it.
Frequently asked questions
- What file format is best for a floor plan?
- A vector file: DWG or DXF from CAD, a vector PDF, or an SVG. Waygo can read walls, booths and rooms exactly from those. PNG, JPEG and TIFF images work too but take longer to build.
- Can I upload one PDF that contains all floors?
- Upload one file per level. Split a multi-page PDF first, then upload each page on its own level.
- Can I upload floor plans before the map exists?
- Your Waygo team creates the map first; it appears in your dashboard as a draft. Floor plans are uploaded on that draft.
- How big can a floor plan file be?
- Up to 50 MB per file.
- Who turns the drawing into a map?
- Waygo does. The upload is a request; your Waygo team builds and styles the map and the page shows the progress.
