Open a venue map on a specific floor, zoom and angle
The map link opens on the map's default level, fitted to the floor plan. Sometimes you want a link that opens on the mezzanine, zoomed into the east hall, tilted and turned so the entrance is at the bottom. That is the link's initial view.
Set it in the dashboard
Open Build a link
On the map page, in the Links section, click Build a link. Keep Just the map, or pick a place, a search or directions; the initial view works with all of them.
Choose the level
Pick the Level in the form. Alone, that is enough for a link that opens on level 2 fitted to its plan.
Set it on the map
Under Initial view choose Set it on the map. The preview map unlocks: drag, scroll to zoom, right-drag (or two fingers) to tilt and rotate. Leave it exactly as the link should open. The readout shows what will be saved: “2 · Mezzanine · zoom 18.5 · pitch 35° · bearing 15°”.
Copy the link
The link under Your link now ends with the view. Copy it, or tick Also give me an embed snippet for an iframe that opens the same view.
Write it by hand
The view is the last part of the link, so you can also type it:

| Part | Meaning |
|---|---|
f1 | The level, counted from 0: f0 is the first level in your Floors list, f1 the second. |
@lng,lat | Where the map is centred: longitude then latitude, six decimals. |
zoom | 16 shows a whole hall, 18 to 19 a few booths, 20 one booth. |
pitch | The tilt in degrees, 0 (straight down) to 85. Around 35 to 45 gives the familiar 3D look. |
bearing | The rotation in degrees. 0 is north up; -90 turns the map so east is up. |
The view goes after whatever the link opens (selected-content/…, search/…, directions/…) and before any ?embed=1. Easiest is still to set it on the map and copy; the dashboard writes the numbers for you.
Where this helps
- A link per hall in the programme: “Hall A”, “Hall B”, each opening zoomed on its hall.
- The kiosk's home view: the same control sets where a kiosk rests between visitors. See Kiosks.
- An embed on a page about one area, opened right there.
Frequently asked questions
- Can a map link open on the second floor?
- Yes. Pick the level in Build a link, or add /f1 to the link (levels count from 0).
- Can I control the zoom and angle a link opens at?
- Yes. Choose Set it on the map under Initial view, leave the preview at the view you want, and copy the link. The level, centre, zoom, tilt and rotation are written into it.
- Does an initial view work with a place or directions link?
- Yes. It is added after the place, search or directions part of the link.
- What happens if I leave the initial view automatic?
- The map opens fitted to the level, or to the place the link opens on.
